It all started when she was one year old. That was when Linda Lööf, now 37, developed skin concerns behind her knees, in the crooks of her arms and on the backs of her thighs. It itched so much that she had to apply cortisone cream every day to calm it down.
- I remember feeling different when I started school; it was pretty hard. For example, my classmates went swimming at the local pool, but I couldn't join in because my skin concerns could get worse, she says.
Reaching puberty can be tough for many, but for Linda it was a real relief, because that was when the problems disappeared. She enjoyed being free of the itching and the strong creams. But the joy lasted no more than a couple of years. The skin concerns reappeared, but in completely different places from before: on her face, her neck, her right hand and her right nipple.
- I got large cracks in my skin and red, stinging rashes.

A couple of years ago, a fungal infection started to develop in the affected skin and spread
across her neck and around her eyes. She was then advised to look at her diet and
avoid sugar and wheat, which promote fungal growth.
But what really changed Linda's life was taking part in a study carried out by Q for Skin, a company that makes natural skincare and haircare products containing plenty of antioxidants and other health-promoting substances.
In the study, Linda took capsules containing blackcurrant seed oil and applied a cream containing the same oil to her skin. Gradually, the problems began to disappear.
- I haven't used a single cortisone cream since March. And now my skin concerns are completely gone, says Linda.
The question is whether it is the new diet or the capsules and skincare products that have produced such good results. Linda herself believes that cutting out wheat and sugar plays a part, but she is convinced that the latter is the main reason.
